When the Going Gets Tough....
Sometimes it seems that the world and our lives are changing at an incredible rate. In times of change, it can be hard to feel that you have control of your life and yourself. And maybe that’s the way it should be.
When we get to places in our lives where the next step isn’t obvious, what’s being asked of us at that point is that we learn to trust more deeply. We want to know the answer, we want to know what the next step will be and where it will take us – but in times of tremendous growth or change, we need to let go of what we think we should do and what we have believed up to that point, and just put one foot in front of the other until the path becomes clear again. Sometimes the path goes underground for awhile, and resurfaces in another way. Sometimes we need to release “old stuff” from our lives before we can move forward. Sometimes we ask for guidance, and we hear, “Just be patient.” Or “It’ll be taken care of.” And it becomes obvious that there’s not necessarily anything to do in the moment. It’s so hard not to feel in control of our lives, but Infinite Intelligence and our Higher Selves have such an incredibly wider view of the possibilities, the options, and our potential, that if we let this intelligence point the way, it can lead us into a much wider world of possibility than we even hoped for.
Some of the best and most positive changes happen after a period in which it feels like some kind of fog seems to descend and we can’t take any steps in any direction. Often what’s happening is that our psyches are processing where we’re at, where we want to go, and considering the next steps. Usually, at some point in the future, everything will become clear again in a new way. When things seem to be cloudy, it’s best to trust that there’s something positive happening under the surface, and that you don’t really need to do anything right now to make it better.
Sometimes we just have to trust that the benevolent Universe knows what it’s doing, and that it truly does have our best interests at heart. There are fallow times in life, when we’ve planted seeds, but we have to wait through the growing season until we can harvest what the seeds have grown. And sometimes the weather prevents us from even sowing seeds, until the conditions are right. If we can keep ourselves from buying into the fear that we’ll never get what we want, we open the door for more positive energy, a more positive outcome, and by intending a positive outcome, the chances of it happening are even stronger.
