The Aura as Our Connection with Divine Intelligence – Part 2
As noted in Part 1, the aura is our connection with the Divine – with Infinite Intelligence and All That Is. The aura has a slight natural expand/contract motion that occurs in accordance with inhalation and exhalation, but because of the restrictions that most of us are brought up with, we’ve forgotten how to allow it to expand and contract, and it becomes “stiff” like the physical body when it doesn’t move. This reduces our ability to use the "radar" that is built into the aura, and decreases the depth of our connection with Divine Intelligence and All That Is.
You can try a short exercise to become a little more aware of your aura. Close your eyes, and let the weight of your body sink into your chair. Make a mental note of how you’re feeling at this moment – are you tired? Confused? Happy? Bored? Now, breathing normally, see if you can become aware of your aura around you, like a fluid egg-shaped energy that surrounds the whole physical you. See if you can feel the boundary of it, sort of like a layer of organic Saran Wrap around the egg. Notice any colors or patterns that you become aware of. Now take a deep breath, and notice if anything happens to your aura or its boundary. Breathe out, and notice again if there’s any change. If you don’t observe anything, that’s okay. Most of us have never learned to focus on ourselves in this way, and it does take a bit of practice. This time, as you take another deep breath, try to expand the boundary of your aura just a little bit – a few inches. Then let it come back in as you exhale. Try it the opposite way: as you breathe in, try to contract the boundary, then let it relax back out as you exhale. Is there a different feeling between the two practices for you? Experiment with this for a few minutes on your own.
Now check in again with yourself, and see how you feel. Is it any different from how you felt a few moments ago?
Allowing your aura to expand and contract as you breathe in and out in meditation will help you feel more connected, more at peace, and happier. The “normal” way of being and breathing for most of us is to essentially “hold” the aura wherever it happens to be at the moment – even if we’re moving our physical bodies – because we learned growing up that we’re only allowed a certain amount of physical space in life, and as the world seems to grow ever more populated, we have a tendency to let our own space – our auras – shrink accordingly. For some of us, rigidly maintaining the size of our aura was the way we learned to feel safe as we grew up, or manage our boundaries with other people. But since everything in the Universe is constantly in flux, why shouldn’t our auras be?
Working with your aura is one of the ways to discover what works for you, what gives you peace, what direction is best for you, what makes you happy. The information is right there, right inside your aura. All you have to do is tune in, rather than tuning out and focusing on the external world. Even if you seek advice or knowledge from other sources, your “gut feeling” will tell you whether or not you’re encountering truth. Tap into the knowledge and the energy force that already resides in your aura, because it’s all you, and you can trust your aura to tell you what’s right for you.
